We are on a journey to transform the Planning Service and this is clearly linked to the Council’s ambitions for the Borough as set out in the Corporate Plan. We are ensuring that the Local Plan, our Development Management decisions and our enforcement and conservation actions help deliver the Council’s vision. I am in the process of putting a new team together. We have recently appointed a number of new planners across the Department. But things don’t stand still and we now need three significant new members of staff for our Planning Policy Team.
The Planning Policy Team is a small group of staff who are responsible for the delivery of the Local Plan, for several Neighborhood Plans, the policy and implementation of the Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106 monitoring and delivery.
Our Local Plan is at a critical stage, we have recently gone out to consultation on the Regulation 19 consultation on the new Borough Local Plan. This sets the vision for the future planning of the Borough and how we plan to meet the opportunities and challenges of development in the Borough.
It’s a busy but exciting time to work in planning here at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. We have significant investment underway and a real commitment to growth. Significant projects include the major Maidenhead town centre regeneration programme and the new Cross rail/Elizabeth Line station. For a planning professional, it all adds up to a real variety and a huge diversity of work.

ABOUT THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead offers a unique planning environment in which to work in.
The two main towns have different requirements; there is the culture and heritage of Windsor and the rejuvenation of Maidenhead, with the smaller towns and villages being located within the Green Belt.
The area is economically resilient and experiencing growth pressure, so there’s plenty to get involved with.

Principal Planning Officer - policy
PLANNING OFFICER/SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER
Our Planning Officers deal with the full range of enquiries, advice, applications and appeals in relation to the Planning Acts.
Our Senior Planning Officers will process
and project manage larger scale planning applications and support the Planning Officers.
Our Principal Planning Officer provides support to the Planning Team Manager in the day-to-day management of the service. They will also attend Planning Panel meetings to give professional advice and guidance.
Our Principal Planning Officer - Policy supports
the Planning Policy Manager in the delivery of
the Council's statutory responsibilities for the production of the Borough Local Plan, other DPDs and SPDs and Neighbourhood Plans. They will
also deputise for the Planning Policy Manager

CONSERVATION OFFICER/SENIOR CONSERVATION OFFICER
Our Planning Policy Manager leads and manage the Planning Policy team to ensure the delivery of best value services in accordance with the objectives of the Directorate's Business Plan and Service Plan. They are a member of the Planning Service Management Team.
Our Conservation Officers provide specialist advice regarding applications within conservation areas or that affect listed buildings. Their work ensures sustainable development now and for future generations.
Our Enforcement Officers investigate allegations
of unauthorised development activity within
the Borough and prepares reports on expediency.
